There are no shortcuts, the forest is endless, and alone you will not find your way, like you are lost in catacombs without light or a guide… Colonisation, held back by this unknown and treacherous landscape, lost its great hopes and, turning its back on the motherland with resignation, lay despondently by the seashore and began to vegetate, dreaming of Civilisation, which for its part had forgotten its weak and unhappy child...

A man and a woman, wife and husband, biologists, explorers of the rainforest at the beginning of the XIX century, are abandoned by their Indian guides. Sickness and hunger plunge them into a hallucinatory vortex that opens the door to the ghosts of the past and the future.

Impossibile trovare scorciatoie, la foresta è senza fine, e da soli non troverete la vostra strada come immersi dentro catacombe senza luce né filo… la colonizzazione, bloccata da questo paesaggio sconosciuto e insicuro, perse le grandi speranze, e, girando le spalle con rassegnazione alla patria, si è distesa scoraggiata sul bordo del mare e si è messa a vegetare, sognando la Civilizzazione, che dal canto suo ha dimenticato il suo figlio rachitico e infelice...
